Francis Jocky - Sanctified

Francis Jocky's terrific songwriting talent is brought out wonderfully in these somber pieces, namely "Meant to last," "Sanctified," (with only acoustic guitar) and "Your way." Yes, without doubt – Francis Jocky is deep and I was hugely impressed by the CD from the Beginning to the end. It has a folky/poppy/soulfulness that to me is a great step up from the processed pop that has dominated the charts in recent years.

This is a great disc though for anyone who loves good soulful pop songs. Francis Jocky has a beautiful, soulful voice, It has a quality that makes anything he sings genuine and real. His voice sounds like a cross between Seal (but with more energy) Stevie Wonder and Keb’Mo. There is something about his voice, and the feeling that seems to come behind the bluesy lyrics that just touches you and makes you really want to listen.

The art direction is superb, and contributes greatly to the album as a whole even if it’s only an EP. This album really has the feel of personal truth, through soul rock-solid and imaginative music.

A simple incredible album and If you like mellow music to enjoy during a snowy day or a rainy day or you are feeling down, this album is great..

John Mayer - Continuum

Continuum - John Mayer

With Continuum, John Mayer solidifies himself as one of the premier talents of our day. Not only does he surpass expectations, he crushes them.

This is an album oozing with confidence, passion, and mastery in every square inch. A subtle, yet intricate masterpiece, that strives to achieve excellence in musicianship rather than an attempt to make a “popular” album.

Corinne Bailey Rae - Choux Pastry

Corrine Bailey Rae Corinne Bailey Rae's Flaky "Choux Pastry"

What is an éclair or profiterole without choux pastry? Lots of filler.  The self-titled debut by Corinne Bailey Rae has just enough choux pastry—including a song entitled “Choux Pastry Heart”—to make it a notable release for June 2006.  As with any éclair though, sometimes the choux pastry falls apart in your hands.

With eight producers and 11 co-writers dispersed over 11 tracks, Corinne Bailey Rae has plenty of talent shaping her songs, most of which are meditations on the excitement of new love.  Only three tracks ("Seasons Change”, “Choux Pastry Heart”, and “‘Til It Happen to You") suggest the sting of love gone wrong.  A 27-year-old Pisces from Leeds, England, Corinne Bailey Rae sings more convincingly of the former than the latter.

James Morrison - Undiscovered
Undiscovered - James MorrisonYour parents would have to be pretty big music fans to name you James Morrison. And then, to decide to go into music, you’d have to be smart enough not to go by “Jim”. While the latter is for certain, the former is a bit of a mystery as James Morrison’s first CD, Undiscovered, hits the U.S. on March 13.

Already a hit in his homeland, Britain, Morrison’s Undiscovered debuted at #1 on the U.K. charts, remained there for several weeks, and sold over 600,000 copies (with over 1 million worldwide), all on the backs of his first single, “You Gave Me Something” as well as “Wonderful World” both of which offer something for a wide variety of music lovers.
